I am mid-semester for three units, and have just enrolled in my final two units which commence in September. It has been hard work but I think it has been worth it.I feel like I have developed a lot as a person, although the credit for this is not university study but the life Melissa Janehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18339747540461894911noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-688781629015628960.post-48827311178090753432022-04-03T10:09:00.023+10:002022-04-03T11:34:01.355+10:00Full-time studentSince my last post twelve months ago, I've left the workforce and am now studying full-time. There were a few factors in this decision but the trigger was the unexpected resignation of my boss. My colleague Donna expressed it best, after after several changes of leadership in the past seven years she said she didn't "have another director in me", meaning she did not have the energy to go through Melissa Janehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18339747540461894911noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-688781629015628960.post-5700277701512941332021-04-05T10:17:00.005+10:002021-04-05T12:46:13.254+10:00A new course of studyI have re-discovered this blog and it is an interesting dip into the past, spanning some fifteen years! So much has happened in my work and study life since my last post, five years ago. A couple more changes in leadership. I think we finally have it right now, with a CEO who has a clinical background. This role has a strategic business focus and an excellent person in the position.A couple Melissa Janehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18339747540461894911noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-688781629015628960.post-64640012732001669942016-08-16T12:39:00.005+10:002016-08-16T12:39:57.637+10:00Diploma Finished!I'm a little late in posting the news here, but pleased to acknowledge that I finally completed my Accounting Diploma in December 2015. Is certainly wonderful to finally have this qualification under my belt. Particularly since it was completed in even busier circumstances at work, after the new boss resigned in October, I stepped up to the role of Acting General Manager.
We have Melissa Janehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18339747540461894911noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-688781629015628960.post-64292538324531725302014-12-28T22:10:00.001+10:002014-12-28T22:23:28.598+10:00Update for 2014Well it has been a little quiet here on this blog during the year, rather quiet on the study front as well. I'm so pleased to have met all my study goals in 2013, I began the new year with only three units left of my diploma course. Sadly those three units remain at the end of 2014.
I had to re-enrol with OTEN, paying full course fees, which gave me until February 2016 to complete the course. Melissa Janehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18339747540461894911noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-688781629015628960.post-42108417078489775272013-11-03T09:19:00.000+10:002013-11-03T09:24:30.072+10:00After the diploma?Possibly a little premature to be thinking about what I want to do after completing the diploma - I have six units to go. By the end of the year I hope to have only three units left, so the end really is in sight.
I've joined a Facebook group with others studying their diploma of accounting, and someone asked what we plan on doing with our diploma once we've finished - is a degree the next step.Melissa Janehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18339747540461894911noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-688781629015628960.post-38804264189004458852013-10-19T18:28:00.000+10:002013-10-19T18:30:13.733+10:00Diploma updateStudy has been very productive, I've been getting good marks and enjoying the work. I'm more than halfway through the course, close to completing another two units very soon, with a final six to go.

This leaves eleven units remaining. Setting myself a steady pace and taking my time. Would be great to complete in twelve months, but I'm not going to push myself.
The unit I'm working on at the moment is Prepare Financial Reports, working from a text by Clarke - Accounting: An introduction to Melissa Janehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18339747540461894911noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-688781629015628960.post-4332120150442450802012-10-30T22:13:00.004+10:002012-10-30T22:13:55.168+10:00AccountingLove it when a plan comes together... a few months ago, in a performance review discussion with my boss, we plotted a succession plan for my position. Just finishing off the assessment task for two units, then only one unit left to go, it's good to be so close to the end. It has been very tough going, between this subject and the EB negotiations at work I'm quite convinced against a HR career. I managed to get credits for a couple of units completed in my last subject. I've completed one of the units and put in some work for another, but have really been dragging the chain. I made enquiries about throwing in the towel, but I'm committed financially.
